ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS

Tika and Brian

Rtn Tika took over and did a great job of running the meeting in Pres. Allan’s absence and Sue Bishop’s illness.  Tika wished everyone a Very Happy New Year for 2018.  She then welcomed and introduced all our special guests at this 1st meeting of the New Year.  As guests we had Glen Lindon, Rtn Fern’s husband, and Bridget Carson, Marilyn’s daughter who was visiting her.

Annemarie, Reneee, and Aron

Aron Hughes of the Bali Children’s Project was in attendance to receive a contribution of 500,000IDR our traveling member Renee had collected while she was in Australia.  It was determined that it was best to give the contribution to Treasurer Brian and he would transfer the money to the BCP.  In addition to this nice contribution she had collected, she also sold 10 of our Club Cookbooks, while there which raised an additional 1,000,000 IDR.  GREAT job, Renee.

Tika then introduced our very special guests at this meeting: Ex RCBUS PresidentsMarilyn Carson, Sue Winski, and Philip Yusenda.  They had been invited to give us some ideas, suggestions, and direction concerning the club’s 10th Anniversary coming up in May.  They jointly felt that we should

Philip, Bridget, Sue, and Marilyn

decide to celebrate the projects of the past few years and not what occurred before the club’s division.  Their ideas will certainly be taken into account by the special Anniversary committee that is being formed. IPP Bruce put forward Brian’s name as the perfect person to chair the committee to organise the anniversary celebration. No vote was taken and as Brian was unaware of this proposal nothing further was documented or discussed at this meeting.  But we know that Brian will do a great job on this, just as he has done as our treasure.

Bruce

Fund Raising.  Bruce told how, even though we had only about 35 guests this year at our fundraising Christmas event, we had raised over 33,000,000 IDR.  Compared to last year when we had 44 guests and raised 24,000,000 IDR.  The guest numbers where down this year as a result of the Mt. Agung volcano situation which has caused tourist numbers to be way down this year.  However, Bruce is confident that next year we can expect a sell-out!

Projects. Tika mentioned that she has a project in mind but did not really explain as more investigation on her part needs to take place.  After which she will present it to the board for consideration.  Bruce mentioned an email discussing Mental Health clinics in Bali much like JFF that

Fern and Glen

is being implemented.  He will research more and then pass it to our Projects Director, Dora.  So, if YOU have an idea for a new club project, please do just a little research; discuss your idea with some other members; and then, if it still sounds good, prepare a Project Proposal and submit it to the board for consideration.  The club is always looking for projects in Bali that help the people here.

Other Club Business.  It was mentioned that we are still looking for meeting speakers for March – June 2018.  So if you have someone you feel would be a great speaker and one our members and guests would like, please speak to them and if they are interested, mention it to Sue Bishop to ensure the date is still open.

Next Meeting, at Maya Resort & Spa, Ubud, Jan. 29th 2018, 5:30-7PM.   Guest speaker:  Glen Hulley of Project Karma, who will speak about COMBATING CHILD SEXUAL EXPLOITATION.  In Indonesia, there are 40,000 to 70,000 child victims of sexual exploitation throughout Indonesia. See what Project Karma is doing and what YOU can do to help stop this horrible situation.

Our next Board Meeting was announced for January 29th and all are welcome.

There was no raffle this meeting.
