ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS
Pres. Allan Starr led his first meeting as our new President to an overflow crowd of 20 people at Kakiang Garden Café. Allan presented IPP Bruce Briscoe with 2 pins representing his successful year as our previous President.
With so many people, Allan had our members stand up and he went around and introduced them. He also announced our newest member, Rtn Ray Bishop, who has transferred into our club. Ray is Sue Bishop’s husband. Allan also mentioned that Rtn Fern Linden has transferred into our club. WELCOME Ray & Fern! This brings our member total to 17 energetic and motivated members.
Then he had our guests introduce themselves. Pica, Rotaract member; Kaler, former Rotaract and Rotarian; Jimmy Mwambazi and his wife from Africa; and Sophie Schad RC Bad Bederkesa Germany
Allan did flag exchanges with both Jimmy and Sofi.
Next, Allan presented Sectry Sue Bishop with her Secretary badge.
Rtn Renee Heaton was introduced to do a monthly Q&A sessions about Rotary. So if you had any questions about our club or Rotary International, she’ll research it and give the answer. So think of some good questions for her and email to alicebali6360 (at) gmail.com. She began by giving us a nice story about the Paul Harris Foundation.
Sue & Allan gave a brief overview of the results of the previous Board Meeting. He mentioned that we now had enough members to start NOW to propose Directors for the next year. He said we should contact anyone we wanted to nominate for a position. IF they said OK, then the actual nomination should be sent to Sue. Alan also mention our honorary member, Rtn AnneMarie Kipar. Honorary members hold the position for only 1 year and then must be renominated. This was done and she’ll be told at our next meeting. In addition Sue mentioned the idea of ‘Red Badge’ members. These would be the newest members and it will help them learn about Rotary and our members. This was followed by Sue showing examples of possible RCBUS T-shirts. She passed them around.
Rtn Dora introduced students from Universitas Gajah Mada working to improve the health of the villagers of Bunkian 7,000 resident with a largely elderly population. Focusing on health in coordination with puscesmas and small student to continue the role of oral and health education. HIV education Dengue education, and exercise for the elderly. Help of 2.5 million for medicine was requested and passed.
Allan gave our guest Jimmy a chance to talk about his club and their projects. His is a 30 year old club which supports local projects of sanitation, education, health.
Rtn Terri and guest Tikka won the Raffle prizes of a RCBUS cook book.
The meeting was called promptly at 7PM.
Next Meeting 31 July. at Maya Resort with the guest speaker from Sjaki’s Warung, which is across the soccer field in Ubud – it helps and educates children with a mental disability on Bali. Come hear what they do to help these beautiful children.
