Bulletin July 14, 2013
ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS
Members: Driya, Marilyn, Cat, Bruce, Allan, Janet, Philip
Guests: Donna Lum, Dag Roslun and Aneke from Northern Stockholm, Sweden
Philip then announced that our club had received permission from Rotary International to use some leftover funds to buy lab reagents for the HIV testing clinic, and to make a video about the clinic. The main reason for these ‘left-over’ funds is the exchange rate between the Indonesian rupiah and the US dollar.
Our sister club RC Manningham in Melbourne is fundraising to build a school in South Sudan and our club is helping them by contributing. IPP Sue has contributed 2 days in her Pejeng house and Rtn Janet a dinner, cocktails and a salsa class at her Cafe Havana.
Rtn Dag exchanged flags with Pres. Philip, adding another European flag to our growing collection. This is our first from Sweden!
Report from Committee Chairs
ES Marilyn reported on the Stewardship Committee which was formed in response to the audit we experienced for two of our projects. Janet, Rtn Philip, PE Cok Raka and Marilyn are close to having completed the initial document
which will go to the auditor listing our new reporting process. This will really help us in the future keep very good track of all our projects and their progress and their funding. Thanks guys!
Sec Cat reported for the Project Committee that she had just completed drafting an MOU for the Biosphere Foundation as our club will be applying for a DAP grant from the Australian Consulate on their behalf. We will also include a disclosure letter that will be part of our standard operating procedure.
With no speaker tonight, Philip opened a discussion on club fundraising. Philip explained that our goal is to both create community awareness of our club and all it does in Bali and to raise money for current and future projects. A lively discussion followed with all our guests contributing. Philip will distribute the list to our membership via email so these that missed this fun exercise in creative thinking can also contribute their ideas.
