ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS
Pres Allan welcomed all our guests. Then he filled us all in on the status of our current big project : Project Protect: Helmets are on order and RTN Terri is getting things underway and ready for the 1st round of distribution to local Ubud primary schools, to five and six year olds. ONCE we’ve done one complete cycle we can step up cycle speed.
Mobile Library: PE Bruce purchased stationery and pencils for the Rotaracts to share with elementary students during their next Mobile Library visit.
Karangasem Water Projects: RTN Rich reported that No; 16 is fully funded and underway. This means more villagers will have drinking water soon instead of spending 3-5 hours per day walking to and from the cost up to their village.
Karangasem projects -Karangasem cancer patient additional support of Rp 1.000.000 was approved by the board, Allan to confirm with Ping.
Michelle Wild is the manager of this year’s Ubud Food Festival. She explained how she and her team have taken it up a notch. They have looked at who attended last year and tried to make the festival even better by attending to all the different types of visitors. Some free events that anyone can attend and then some other special events that do cost money. Looks really good.
She even agreed to let the festival sell our Rotary Cook Book at the Information both! Look for it there.
Meeting closed at 7:00
Next Meeting to be at Maya on Monday May 30 5:30-7PM with a special speaker: Kevin Kumala of Biowear Bali will speak to us tonight about how his company is changing our concepts of Bio Degradable products. Here’s just one example: Biodegradable ‘plastic’ ponchos! https://avanionline.myshopify.com/collections/ponchos
They also offer Eco-Friendly bags, straws, coffee cups, wooden cutlery and more. They even have a new on-line store at http://www.biowearbali.com/
Yes, they look like plastic but are completely degradable and recyclable!
