Bulletin December 17, 2018
ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS
Guests : PP Ning, Rtn Anan , Rtn Bayu AK (they are all Rotarian from Rotary Club Jogja Tugu), Karin Dorsey (NealFrom’s Spouse)
Pres. Brian welcomed all members and guests
Brian introduced and inducted our newest member, Neal From. Neal joined RCBUS almost 6 month ago but he went back to the US, so finally upon his return Brian give him his pin badge and certificate of Rotarian and 5 way test, all gave a very nice welcome to him joining our club.
Acting as our Treasurer, Brian gave us the numbers from our 5th Annual Christmas Fundraiser – the fundraiser earned Rp 22,170,000 this year, less than last year which was Rp 31,787,800, and the number of people that attended was about the same. Also by lowering the price of the tickets did not mean more people came. So for the next year maybe we need to adjust the price of the ticket. Just for note to all members for next year PP Bruce cannot do it any more for the Christmas dinner fundraiser, so we need
member(s) to do that. With kind heart Bruce will give all the contact information and the emails of all companies that we worked with. For next year Bruce suggested we need to contact more NEW 5 star hotels and restaurants to give items for the silent auction. Rp,1,000,000 from RTN Sue Bennet also needs to be checked again to see if we have received it yet. Thank you so much to Bruce for the great job and great effort to this Christmas Dinner and the previous 4, we could never have made it happen without you, thank you so much.
Previous business, the girl from JFF Payangan Kadek Cinta Dewi, got her cataract surgery for both eyes on December 7th 2018 at Puri Raharja hospital, she now has much better sight but needs to check up again to JFF Sanur to adjust, maybe glasses needed, she will be at JFF Sanur this Friday December 21th 2018 for checking.
Kedampal Water project needs funding, RC Denpasar will give a schedule in January to attend their meeting to present our budget proposal. Tika already has sent the proposal to Judith Schneider. We look forward to what she can do for raising the funds needed.
Proposal Ongoing from Taro Recycling Compost, a great man called Wayan Wardika (firstname.lastname@example.org) from Taro Kaja Tegalalang asking for our support for his big idea of a composting system in his village. He started with 30 families in his village to separate their waste from the houses into organic and unorganic. He then picks up the organic waste 3 times a week and takes it to the composting site he built with his own money and makes compost from it. The unorganic he sends to Temesi Recycling Compost. He needs a place to collect all the organic waste from every family who has already joined his program which is now grown to 100 families. He also is starting to educate the kids at school in his village to be aware about the problem caused by badly managed garbage, and educate them also to collect the PET plastic to change it in to money. Looking forward to what we can do for him and his big dreams. He also is offering his place called Tegal Dukuh Camping site in Taro Kaja to
all Rotarians with special prices and full of support meals and trekking assistance.
Members need to nominate officers for 2019-2020. It is so important that all members must be active and to get involved in all the projects we do; talk to more people about Rotary; invite them to our meetings and projects; and make them became a potential member. We also need speakers for incoming year so please talk to people who have foundations and Yayasans, invite them to our meetings, it will be increase raffle income and give our club potential new members.
Note from Bruce: beginning in January, as a result of some medial issues, he will no longer be able to do the updating of our Website, FB Page, the Fund Raiser project, photos, bulletins and other computer things, so some members MUST to step up and take over these responsibilities. He mentioned that it would not be right to hand off these jobs to all the things that Brian is currently doing! Bruce said none of them take much time, just a commitment to being responsible for the tasks. Great job Pak Bruce, Thank You for all great jobs you have been doing for the club over the last 7 years.
Rotary Jogja Tugu: our guests today said that their club has 32 members. One of their projects is Micro Credit for supporting women’s small businesses, free medical checkups and they have 4 doctors becoming members. They do a Gala Dinner for fund raising.
Former member and local author, Ibu Kat will be our guest speaker at Maya Meeting 28th January 2019, RTN Renee will make sure about it.
