Bulletin April 21, 2014
Meeting Guests: Natalie, (Osteopath from France); Winda (Indonesian teacher at Cinta Bahasa); Jessie (Rotarian from South Australia, studying bahasa here); Leah (3 months in Ubud, registered nurse from Australia, also learning bahasa from Winda); Anna Marie from up the hill; Rich from Colorado Interquest. Our Rtn. Alisa is leaving to return to Manhattan after a three month stay in Ubud. We wish her a safe return and look forward to her return next year.
Welcome back to Rtn Hank, from another exciting travel adventure.
SAA Bruce gave his report on news from members here and afar and past: VP Lloyd is on a leave of absence, has survived a tax audit, and is now building a wedding chapel for Bulgari Resort and 3 other renovations. His project meetings conflict with our weekly meetings so he’s not able to attend meetings, but hopes to see his Rtn friends on weekends. Past member SAA and Jeff are coming back May 7 to 19. SAA Bruce is organizing a dinner at Locavore on May 13, contact him if you would like to join.
Rtn Sue Bennett was one of the special invitees to the DOUBLE royal wedding that occurred this week, jammed up traffic (even more) in Ubud, and which will be the talk of the island for weeks, maybe years to come. Never has such a lavish ceremony take place. Since their were two royal grooms, guess the event had to doubly magnificent – and as Sue says – it was!
PP Rosalind explained that our club would be covering the raffle table at Earth Day, looking for a volunteer to help sell raffle tickets between 2 and 6 on Saturday. Thanks to Pres. Sue, Denielle, and Sue Bennett for volunteering for the worthy event, and to PP Rosalind for organising. Future Meetings
April 29 There will not be a regular meeting as we will meet on Sunday April 28 instead for a Field Trip to the Mask and Puppet Museum for a tour and dinner at Sawah Indah afterwards. All Rotarians and friends are welcome, please make a donation of Rp 20,000 to the museum. Details will be on the website. May 5 at 5 pm is Club Assembly at Cafe Havana, please attend because we will be planning our goals for the next year and welcome all your input. Thanks to two successful fundraisers this year, we do have money for some small projects and we will discuss our priorities at the club assembly on May 5. May 12 please bring a potential Rotarian to the meeting to hear Natalie speak about osteopathy and learn about her very interesting healing work.
VP Rucina made a wonderful presentation about the trip she and Rtn Cat took to India, covering a theatrical symposium in Manipur, a week travelling through Manipur and then a couple of days in Delhi. They were able to view several classical dance and martial arts forms. Rucina increased her wardrobe considerably and was able to pray in several Hindu temples. The raffle prize of an Indian puppet was won by Sue Bennett.by
