ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS
SAA Bruce announced that the wall hanging donated by Anne Marie was to have been auctioned through our website but, since adding that capability to the site is taking too long, ES Marilyn will be auctioning it at a RC meeting in California, during her current visit, which is hoped to raise more money.
IPP Sue Winski announced that April 10, the Seminyak RC will be having a fund raiser for the Smile Foundation at the Trans Resort and we are were encourage to attend. She also announced that that she has 145 RC cookbooks at her home which are available for sale. RTN Jody Bausch is also holding some in the US.
VP Rucina dined with Jody in Amsterdam where Jody is posted for two years and they had fun together.
Pres. Philip announced the District Conference will take place in Jogjakarta 22 – 24 May with both districts 3410 and 3420. Registration can be made online. http://www.aprrc2015.org/web/site/reg_fee. The Asia Pacific Regional Rotaract Conference (APRRC) is one of the largest Rotaract events, organized every year and engages Rotaractors from the Asia Pacific region. It was initiated in 2004 by
Rotaractors from Rotary International District 3450 and the first Conference was held in Hong Kong. The Conference has subsequently been held in Taiwan, the Philippines, Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore,
Australia and Thailand.
April 1 is an auspicious day for the Balinese, especially for weddings. Rotaractor Endra has invited all club members to attend in Banjar Pesalakan, Gianyar, and the electronic invitation was shown to the membership. Here is the invitation: http://endramalina.com/
RTN Judith presented the Rotary Minute. Local Rotary members automatically become members of Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation. Our club belongs to a district which offers District Assemblies for training and the District Conference and has a District Governor who appoints officers. Every District belongs to an administrative Zone appointed by the President (RCBUS are in Zone 7A). Judith is very knowledgeable about these matters and welcomes questions.
Bruce reported that our Club is investigating other meeting venues; he is liaising
with the management at the new Sens Convention Centre who will send us a proposal. He also sent out to all members a brief survey about our current meeting location, Maya, and asking about preference and meeting location needs and wants, please look for that, answer the survey, and send it back to Bruce.
Jack Blaylock, our guest speaker, gave a fascinating presentation on the laws and principles of vibration through the media of sound. He simplified the science of vibration using the example of a vibrating fork which helped the audience understand the basics.
The raffle prize of a bar of Swiss chocolate was won by Sue Winski
