Bulletin February 15, 2016
Members: Allan Pres, Bruce VP, Danielle TRF
Guests: Raelene Starr, Bill & Judith Schneider, Nick from Singapore
ANNOUNCEMENTS, CORRESPONDENCE, REPORTS
Pres. Allan, after his bout with pneumonia, welcomed everyone and then he had all the guests introduced themselves
Next he called on Judith to do a Rotary Minute where she covered many good and interesting bits of information about Rotary, its history and how Rotary functions through committees. Question: How did Rotary get its name: “Because originally members ROTATED to different places for meetings and fellowship”. She also covered how clubs get their money: grants and other methods. She also told us ‘how to get new members’ – simply ASK PEOPLE!
Allan then did a flag exchange with Nick a guest from the Singapore Rotary Club
Allan announced that it has been decided that we will use the Maya Resort and Spa for the last Monday of each month and have a speaker where we will focus our efforts on attracting guests with the member potential. Two other meetings per month will be at Kakiang Garden and Cafe or a fellowship outing.
VP Bruce accepted has nomination as PE and President Allan will put out a notice to members.
Bruce said he will contact Mary Northmore, who was a guest several weeks ago and is the founder of SMILE which helps children receive facial reconstruction surgery, about being the speaker for 29 Feb and will also contact Ruchina about helping us find and schedule speakers.
Allan said that Fitriana is the new Rotaractor president and will be invited to attend a meeting in the near future.
The meeting of the 22nd of Feb will be at Kakiang. http://rotarybaliubudsunset.org/attend-a-meeting-location-map/ Remember that Guests are ALWAYS welcomed and encouraged to attend our Monday evening meetings. Invite them to come see what our club is all about and how we are devoted to helping the local Balinese. Our club priorities are Health, Hygiene, and Water.
