Ibu Sukma went into the details of the efforts and the success of the Smile Foundation.  Smile supports with the aid of surgeons from Bali, cleft lip and palette and other craniofacial operations that transform children’s, and adult’s lives.  It was great to understand how we can help this incredible work and how they have expanded their commitment to the children in Bali.  Many people sponsor individual operations, help out in the smile shop or donate.  Smile as an amazing story of starting very small and now having an outreach project extending to Flores where awareness programs are run and arrangements made for transferring patients to Bali.

SmileStepThe cost of the program for a full year- salary transport and costs of operations runs to 200,000,000 rupiah per year. The program has now grown to include South Australian doctors and hospitals with the support of the South Australian government. There are now 6 trained doctors in this area in Bali where previously there were none. It is truly an inspiring story and if people want to find out more there is a Facebook page to the SMILE story!  https://www.facebook.com/SmileFoundationSA/?ref=br_rs

Smile creates miracles in Bali.  Balinese react to their children having disabilities but keeping them out of schools and ‘hidden’ in their homes.  What Smile doeJustelles is allow these innocent child to take part in their communities again.  Thank you Sukma for enlightening us.
