Upcoming Meeting/Speaker16 February 2015
Lily Wardoyo, of Yayasan Bali Peduli, will update us on activities and progress at their two clinics – the initial facility in Kuta, and the Ubud clinic which our club helped to fund.
Yayasan Bali Peduli (YBP) is a Bali-based, Indonesian not-for-profit organization. Our mission is to prevent the spread of HIV in Bali, eliminate barriers to care and make health service more accessible. YBP was formed in 2011 by a group of concerned Bali residents, in response to escalating rates of HIV and HIV related deaths in Bali.
YBP operates out of two medical clinics located in Kuta and Ubud. Each clinic targets different at risk populations on Bali. Klinik Bali Medika in Kuta is primarily focused on the MSM and gay community in south Bali, while Klinik Anggrek in Ubud targets pregnant women, families and female sex workers.
The YBP program comprises three key components: clinical services, education/outreach, and support for PLWH. All services, including medications, are delivered entirely free to YBP clients.
Lily Wardoyo is Chairperson of YBP. She provides guidance on policy setting, compliance and non-medical issues. Lily is a retired banker; she is also an advisor to Friends of the National Parks Foundation (FNPF) – a local NGO working on environment conservation and community development.
For many years, Lily has been a resident and active member of the community in Bali. She has an impressive understanding of the cultural and political factors at play in this unique part of Indonesia.by
