Club Assembly

Club Assembly – Philip, Bruce, Mary, Ros, Ron, Allan, Don, Sue

No regular meeting this week but a brain storming 2014 Club Assembly in its place.  The focus was on what community projects the club wants to undertake this coming Rotary year… facilitated by the fact that we’ve had two successful fundraisers this past year.   It’s great to have some discretionary money to do with what we want and when we want! (We all love using Rotary funding but it feels good to get wild and do what we darn well please.)

The meeting was held at Rtn Janet’s stunning restaurant, Café Havana, and needless to say the munchies and drinks were delicious. Thus fortified, President Elect Philip led the session with Pres Sue acting as scribe for the many exciting project ideas coming from members.  There was strong interest from members to put some of their own ‘sweat’ into a local project and we may end up painting a high school dormitory.  Not so sweaty was a suggestion that native English speakers engage with students learning English at Campuhan College.  (They could have a choice of Australian, American or Canadian accents!)

Sec Allan made every attempt to take notes as we jabbered away and now has the hapless task of putting all these ideas into manageable form to allow follow-up discussion and final selection of projects the club will undertake.
