Collaboration with Rotary Club Nieuwkoop, Netherlands
On May 29, 2023, visiting Rotarian, Jaques Bindels, who is on the Board of Directors of Rotary Club Nieuwkoop, Netherlands, spoke to the Rotary Club Bali Ubud Sunset [RCBUS ]membership. He explained a project in Gianyar that is currently under the auspices of Yayasan Anak Unik [The Unique Children’s Foundation]. It educates intellectually disabled children in collaboration with Luh Ketut Suryani, MD, PhD, from the Suryani Institute for mental Health in Denpasar. Dr. Suryani’s expertise is mental health.
Bindels told us that the school is so successful that it has outgrown its current building. A new building is badly needed. The budget for the expansion has been planned. The overall costs for the project will be around RP 2.7 billion. 
RCBUS will act as the project’s local supervisor and coordinator and perform the following:
- Verifying local documents written in Bahasa Indonesia
- Performing regular site visits
- Checking financial aspects
This international collaboration will enable Rotary Club Nieuwkoop to apply for additional financial support from Rotary International to complete the project..
